A quick guide to London
If anyone was going to write a comprehensive guide to London, they would probably have to produce more literature than the entire works of Shakespeare, such is the size of the city. I am not going to attempt anything like that. I am merely in the advantageous position of having spent quite a bit of time in the city, and I’d like to share just a few recommendations if you are new to London.
The first thing I always tell people to do when visiting London is to buy a tube map! The tube once mastered is a wonderfully designed thing, but on first glance, it looks pretty complicated! Plan ahead and arm yourself with one of these before you even reach the capital!
Once you arrive, everyone should see Buckingham Palace. Don’t expect to see the Queen sauntering around in the drive way out front, but just watching the comings and goings is a fascinating affair.
Make sure to take a walk through one of the city’s parks. Do this if only to dispel the notion that London is nothing but a concrete jungle. Some of the Parks are huge, and it really is a delight to wander through St James’ Park on a summers day.
Go and see a play. London is famous for its theatres, and not for no good reason. I would recommend trying to get Wizard of Oz tickets because this looks like being the next big production. If early reports are to be believed, then it is going to be a belter!
Good luck with your trip, and don’t forget your map!
